Samsung Services & Unlocks

The Samsung Unlock scene has changed drastically over the years. The Unlock Network has all the different methods of unlocking a Samsung device and we explain them to you below.

IMEI Based Unlocks

An IMEI Based unlock fully unlocks your device by requesting an Unlock Code for the device and entering the code into the device for a full and permanent unlock. This method is the most preferred as it does not require the manual labor of unboxing the device and plugging it into a PC.

There are some cons with this method though.

First, Since these unlocks vary on both Manufacturer AND Carrier, some carriers may not support a remote unlock method for many different reasons.

Second, IMEI based unlocks are generally more expensive than hardware based unlocks since they require backend processing with Samsung and the Carrier.

Lastly, If time is of the essence for your devices, IMEI Based unlocks may not work best for you since they typically take a few business days to process and return an unlock code.

Hardware Based Unlocks

Hardware unlocks have become more relevant in recent years as they bypass the wait time and are less costly than an IMEI based unlock.

A hardware unlock typically consists of plugging the device into a PC and processing the unlock via a hardware box and software combination. There are 2 types of hardware unlocks:

  1. Read Unlock Code - This method generates the unlock code via the software and allows you to carry out a traditional unlock.
  2. Direct Unlock - This method unlocks the device without having to enter an unlock code. The software will execute a series of commands on the devices firmware.

Again, not every solution is perfect. The draw back with a Hardware Based Unlock is that this required manual intervention with each device. The good news

here is The Unlock Network can handle this process end to end for you within our Detroit facilities.

Pre-Order Checks

When you order devices from a vendor you may want to check and get the details of the devices you are ordering. We can assist with pre-order checks to give you the peace of mind that any devices you purchase have been fully vetted.

Some of the details our checks provide are:

  1. Model Number
  2. Serial/IMEI Number
  3. Original Carrier
  4. Warranty Status
  5. Production Date
  6. Unlock Status

Firmware Changes

Devices you purchase may come with additional bloatware thats not wanted, or you may purchase another carriers device, sell the device on a different carrier and don't want the original carriers branding on the device.

We assist our partners with installing the proper firmware on the device to get rid of the branding/bloatware you don't need.
