The Samsung Unlock scene has changed drastically over the years. The Unlock Network has all the different methods of unlocking a Samsung device and we explain them to you below.
An IMEI Based unlock fully unlocks your device by requesting an Unlock Code for the device and entering the code into the device for a full and permanent unlock. This method is the most preferred as it does not require the manual labor of unboxing the device and plugging it into a PC.
There are some cons with this method though.
First, Since these unlocks vary on both Manufacturer AND Carrier, some carriers may not support a remote unlock method for many different reasons.
Second, IMEI based unlocks are generally more expensive than hardware based unlocks since they require backend processing with Samsung and the Carrier.
Lastly, If time is of the essence for your devices, IMEI Based unlocks may not work best for you since they typically take a few business days to process and return an unlock code.
Hardware unlocks have become more relevant in recent years as they bypass the wait time and are less costly than an IMEI based unlock.
